Soft Octopus Skirt Fishing Bait Solid Purple 12 Inch

Purple is a silhouette colour. It is not trying to look like anything — it is trying to be the darkest, hardest-edged shape between the fish and the surface light. That is why it turns up in more marlin spreads than any bright colour.

When to run solid purple

• Water: Dirty or tannic water, and any water in low light
• Light: Overcast, early and late
• Species: Marlin above all; wahoo in the black/purple family

Run it where the silhouette works against the sky rather than the surface glare.

Why the 12" length

The big-profile length. Marlin, larger yellowfin and bluefin, big chuggers and plungers, and long-rigger positions where the lure has to be visible from a distance. Also the length to reach for when you are dressing a teaser rather than a hook bait.
